All, I hope that I am not making a grave mistake. In a couple of weeks (after qt), I will be introducing a Harlequin Tusk into my aquarium. Currently he is 5-6" long and is being treated for ich at the LFS which is using methylene blue and copper for treatment. My question is, if I put him in my aquarium will my firefish be fine? Also I have two peppermint shrimps and misc hermit crabs. I assume that I need to move the hermit crabs to a new aquarium, am I assuming right? Or if I feed him well, will he bother anything? Please take a look at my current tank specs. and let me know what you think.

If you do a search on here there is a thread about the harlequin. I believe someone said they will munch the shrimps and crabs. I am not speaking from experience, but if memory serves me correctly then you would want to remove your inverts. HTH

The shrimp are definitely at risk. The firefish is probably okay, but no guarantees. I have a 5" tusk with small slender fish, including a Pseudochromis fridmani, and it has never shown interest in them. The hermit crabs are okay; at least my tusk shows no interest in them.

there was a thread posted a month ago where a harlequin tusk tried to eat a mandarin but spat it out later! amazing pics too! but the mandarin was added to the tank with the tusk in it so maybe the tusk thought the mandarin was food.
