Forced to Frag

I've had a nice green bird's nest now for about 2 years or so and I was forced to frag it tonight. I noticed that it was dying from the bottom up.. turning completely white NO real stink like RTN or anything.. not really sure what the problem is... Moved a few days ago.. tanks that is.. but nothing else is suffering.. maybe I injured it somehow i donno.

So.. after a short discussion with myself considering the pros and cons of my options I decided to frag it off.. I left a big part of it attached.. just incase it recoups.. the other frags.. about 6 or 7 frags are mounted on a little flat LR at the bottom of my tank for now.

Hopefully it will all live.. if not hopefully I'll at least have a REALLY cool SPS LR in a few years

I have had a pocillopora for about 2 years and it is doing the same thing. The bottom is slowly dying off. I have been watching it for a few months now, and it doesnt seem to be spreading to the upper branches. I am hoping this is just a natural part of the growth process. The lower stalk and branches that are dying are shaded from the light by the upper part of the coral, so my guess is these parts just aren't getting enough light. As the upper branches grow they will cover up the dead parts and hopefully I won't even be able to tell. We will see if this proves to be true. I hope your frags do well for you.
