For your return pump. I would recommend the mag 9.5. It will give you about 750 GPh at 5" of head. It is submersible and is easier to plum from the sump because you wont need to drill a bulk head. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem. ... uct=DN1127
For your close loop So many choices. Maybe a panworld or iwaki rated for about 1100 GPH Between thew two you would have nice strong 30+x turnover in the tank. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem. ... uct=JW1145

Remember.Im a newb and these are JMO. I have read good things about these brands form the forum users.
On to the next question. What are you going to do for your wave maker? And how is the wife feeling about this now?
not gonna run a sqwd so I should be fine i guess. OK mag it is. I need to check prices and order TODAY! Picking up custom tank NEXT friday the 12 in Nashville, TN!!!
I agree with Wazzel completely regarding noise and potential bubbles. not that I have years of experience. Only a couple of hours regarding overflows actually. I could tell right away that if I increased flow, the noise quickly doubled. If you look at this web DIY plumbing 101. http://dslinux.dyndns.org/~denise/aquar ... l#drilling it has all sort of good plumbing tips and such. The mag 12, at 1100 GPH would almost max out the 1 1/2" over flows capacity of 1300GPH. That is why I would recommend the mag 9 and finishing your flow with a CL/wavemaker system.
