Problem with this mindset is you better hope that its either a fast growing coral or no more are found in large numbers, otherwise as supply rises so does the price.

It has it's risks. Don't worry though, I'm not spending my childs college education fund on these corals. Maybe a little bit of his inheritence though.

I don't really expect all of these corals to be fast growing. I don't know if you recall when I posted pictures of my 75G awhile back with the corals growing right out of the top of the tank. The problem was, they were all plain jane, everyday corals. Orange monti's, green monti's, green piccilipora, etc. The local market was already flooded because I had been trading them for years. They weren't worth enough money for me to go through the effort of trying to sell them on-line. Hopefully my new corals will start growing right out of the top of my 300G and then cash-ola for me :)

I'll probably even lose a colony or two along the way. I just hope it ain't the $500 Efflo. That would suck.

Well yeah a frag of a monti or whatever isn't going to fetch but $5-20 but if you had lots of them why not sell them too? a handful of frags could easily pay for a months worth of electricity :)

But yeah hope your $360 Efflo (I am offically calling for a name change! ;)), doesn't die off that'd suck and a half. I'm still trying to learn how to keep SPS alive and what issues I need to look out for so until that day comes I'll stick with frags from trades and such to play around with, and even though I'm good with softies/lps I really don't want to throw down 90 for some uber pretty Yuma or something.

I can live with that. Don't know about Tyree though ;)

I thought they'd get back to me in a heartbeat. My order was pretty big (multiples of four digits 8O ) but apparently I wasn't important to them ;) There's too many nice corals elsewhere for me to keep trying.

Gee, I hear such nice things about their customer service. I emailed them last week; it took a couple of days for them to get back to me and they were very apologetic about it. I had one more question and that didn't come back at all. :?

Maybe they are short handed at the moment or something.

I won a raffle what was called a Tyree LE Neon Green Pocillipora, now while I love this coral (its the only SPS I've been able to keep alive in my dirty tank!) I question what's so LE about it.

I do understand how some of the nichnames and Limited Edition tags can seem somewhat annoying. I don't mind it so much as it seems to make it a lot easier for me to trade with other collectors, and get the nice looking ones that I really want.

I used to care about SPS "lineage" way back in the day, but now all I want is colors and exotic forms :P I gotta admit the flood of "designer" corals was a big turn off for me.

$100.

So far I've sold 3 splits for $40 each so I'm even plus I have a nice R. yuma. That's typically how I get ahold of nicer corals. If there's not much chance of propogation then it's not for me.

I'm pretty sure it's not one of his listed LE pieces. Still a nice looking piece, though.

Out of curiosity, how would you know this? Also is there a picture gallery of this infamous list?

As to knowing what I'm getting, well I dont do much online trading, but when I show pictures of my stuff I like to make sure there is some eggcrate or PVC in the picture so people can tell its properly white balanced rather than just some distortion of the camera or photoshop trickery.

Guy, quick call it a Superman Yuma! It has red and purple in it! :D

LOL, you're such a straight shooter. Gotta tell you I really admire that!

Once I get the next split I'll be sure to add a piece of PVC in the background! Thanks for the validity check 8)
