Under driving bulb

I have a 175 MH ballast and the cheap bulb I bought isn't worth the low low price and wont fire. So while I wait for a new 175 bulb is there any harm in throwing a 250 that I have sitting here in the ballast? Something is better than nothing is my thought

It won't work for MH due to different ANSI specification between different wattage. You can hurt yourself with a mismatch like that, but if it works, let us know, and I will get a life insurance for you for free.

It wont work...but if it does, your craking me up man. Well it has gone fro 2-12 hour burns with out any issue. Of course I dont have a light meter so I have no idea about that, but the bulb is burnning while I await a new 175.
