doh, it just dawn on me why this is such a bad idea.....
any suggestion on how to secure this better? i don't want to glue it so that i still have the option of taking it off latter. the tube will only work for one side, as i mentioned before, i was having trouble fitting the tube through the hole

Yeah, this was a REALLY BAD idea. If you want to be able to disassemble it in the future, use a union fitting. If you don't know what a union fitting is, then I suggest you consult wth someone locally that's familiar with plumbing. Based upon some of your questions and some of the plumbing you've pictured, it's apparent that you're a novice at best, and this is nothing to fool around with.

Stinger, take your time and keep on doing freshwater tests before you start with the real stuff and you'll be fine!

Union fittings can easily be found at hardware stores including home depot. They make two pieces of pvc pipe easy to connect and disconnect (you only have to unscrew the cap of the fitting and no need to turn the pipe with it) and are very convenient!

Also, go with ball valves on those lines to make sure you can shut things off if necessary. Don't let things become too overwhelming to you because there are a lot of people out on these boards (and even at the hardware stores!) that are willing to help you without being condenscending! 8O

Start here: http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.p ... g&start=20 as they talk about some similar things and if you need more info, just run a search on the forum for pvc plumbing. Also, check out the DIY section!

Good luck! 8)

thanks for the suggestions and supports, i've redone my pipe yesterday and this is the revised pipework pics. BTW didn't use union fitting, i've already glued up all the pipe and connect the hose b4 i read about the latest post about union fitting, and yes i'm still a novice in this.
so hopefully this time it's ok
now everything is glued (except the threaded fitting) plus i'm using the clampers as well

Here in the U.S. it's not possible to thread fittings on the OUTSIDE of a bulkhead fitting. Those threads are for the retaining ring. Was that fitting intended to screw OVER the bulkhead or did you force it on there?
