:cry: i have had a reef tank for a year or so now and all has been well, but in the last two weeks i have lost a number of fish. my ph is fine my kh is a bit high but this is not unusal for my tank and i do a regular 30% water change each week. i have an anenome sea urchen that seem at this moment to be fine all eles or dropping like flies. can any one give me a reson for my kh to rise. i have not added anything new t the tank.

Are you sure that it wasn't a disease or a parasite like ich? You may want to list your detailed water parameters for more help.

How high is the kH? I hightly doubt that your alk has anything to do with the fish mortality. Did your fish have any visable symptoms of disease before they died? Did they simply disappear? Some more detail may help us find possible culprits to their demise.

thanks for the help i seem to be on to the proplem now it was all my falt and feel stupid about it so i wll not tell you all if you dont mind but a note to all do VERY regular water changes and add a cap of Stabillty fluid

Maybe it's not what you think it is? A 30% water change each week is a bit more than necessary.

What is your set-up? What are the basic parameters?

Are you feeding enough? Enough variety? For instance, a diet of strictly brine shrimp does not contain all the essential amino acids...so, the fish, in essence, starve to death.

I hope its not the stuff I put in the gas tank of my lawnmower before the start of winter.
