All,

I've been looking up information for a while about when is the best time to start adding coral to a tank. I was hoping to get some of yalls suggestions on this topic. One thing i've learned since getting addicted to this hobby is almost everyone will have a slightly different answer to the same question. I am hoping though to come to a general idea as to this question. My "Specs" on my tank are posted at http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=88172

Do you think it's too early to begin adding some coral (I was thinking some kind of soft coral)? If this is too soon how long should I wait?

You should be able to add corals any time now, so long as your water condition is good. Four months is plenty of time for most things to settle down.

i added mine within the first week

you can add corals anytime really. but you just wanna make sure you KNOW what your doing ( thats what most of those recomendations mean,.. not 1 year of the tank being up but 1 year in the hobby or what ever)

Well, I wouldnt agree that you can add corals anytime, but it greatly depends on the coral you are looking to add. Something like mushrooms are more along the lines of a coral you can add anytime. I would not add sps corals or something like an elegance coral to a tank only 1 week after the cycle. But like Len said, in your case you will be fine with most corals since your tank have been up 4 months. The key that corals need is water stability. So if you have been monitoring your water parameters and everything is stable you should be good to go. Good luck
