Coral Gravel?

I was also wondering whether I need to put any gravel on the bottom of the tank? the new tank comes with a 4ft sump , At the moment I have a 4ft tank with a cyclone bio filter skimmer, setup that hangs on the end of the tank and I have about four inches of coral gravel on the bottom of the tank but no sump. If you use a sump is it ok to put minimal gravel cover just to cover glass on the bottom? Not too sure what to do as this is a big setup for me? eg, sumps and stuff. Any idea's would be great!

Sure, you can use a minimal layer of crushed coral on the bottom if you like that look. Or, more and more people are going with a bare bottom now, or a faux sand bottom. You can search for threads on this site about these two options. If you go with a thin layer of crushed coral sand, make sure you keep it clean by siphoning it out every few weeks.
