You might want to look into coupling your Maxi-Jets with a Natural Wave controller. Used ones are fairly easy to find, and is probably the most economically effective way to get strong alternating current in a medium sized tank.

does that mod help the water flow that much? Seems like it would just be a bigger hole to let the water out through.

The extra intake holes and larger opening allow the maxi-jet to move more water. The other benefit with the wide outlet, is that maxi-jets impellers alternate direction after each shut off. So, when connected to a wavemaker, the direction of the flow slightly switches in each cycle.

That is wierd how the impeller spins in a different direction just about everytime it restarts.

Any specific reason why you didn't do it to your other ones?

I was looking at pictures of your tank and I really like the way it looks! Especially with the carpet in the middle! About how many pounds of rock do you have in there?

Your tank's 6 feet long, right? My girlfriend and I have spent close to 2 hours trying to figure out a way to do my rockwork in a way that's a little more creative but it's a little limiting with a 4 foot tank. Suggestions?
