It doesn't even have to be a fish, could be an invert.

Looking for something with lots of personality, bright color.

I set up a sick tank in my kitchen, but no one is sick. It's only 5 gallons, nice sand bed, though .. .

I'd like to put something in there. Just to have something to look at while I wash the dishes.

Something that burrows?

How's about a yellow-tail blue damsel.

I would think you would suggest a firefish. :D

I like these.

I agree, I have one in my 2.5gal, he is a really bright two tone blue and yellow and he has a pretty good personality to.

But I've never seen one for sale!

I really like the firefish, I've seen those, but none that pretty!

A small shrimp goby like Matt suggested with a pistol shrimp would be great. They would burrow, and you'd get to watch the really interesting symbiotic relationship. However, you mentioned this is a sick tank. If you plan on actually using this as a sick tank in the future you probably don't want to have invertebrates in it. Invertebrates will not survive any of the common disease treatments. A fish could survive most treatment if necessary, but it still would be nice not to subject them to uneccessary stress. But if you are going to use this purely as a nano and not a sick tank anymore, I'd say go with the goby/shrimp pair. Or you can get some nice rocks, add some nice mushrooms or ricordia to them, and get a small group of periclimenes shrimp or sexy shrimp. Shrimp are always fun to watch, IMO.

Well . . . I would suggest a firefish, but I think a 10g is too small for one. :?

A clown goby would work.

The green clown gobies have nice red markings around the head.

They are pretty hardy too.

Thanks! :D I've never noticed one with such bright yellow fins as of yet. They usually have clear fins. Guess I just got lucky.... :?

I have one coming from marine depot on Tuesday....along with the Randall's pistol shrimp it pairs with.

They were on sale. The Goby was only $35. I usually see them for $50. And the shrimp was only $20...I usually only see the tiger pistol shrimp. The candy stripe (randall's) pairs better with stonogobiops gobies from what I read.

They're going in my nano cube.

The yasha only pairs with randall's in nature IIRC. Be careful with the shrimp during acclimation. For whatever reason they are EXTREMELY sensitive to shipping stress.

That's why I didn't get a tiger pistol, even though my LFS carries them regularly.

I usually do a 3+ hour drip for shrimp...never had a shrimp die at or close to introduction using this method. Hopefully, the shrimp survives the trip and the acclimation. None of my stores carry that species of pistol shrimp and I'll have to order another if this one doesn't make it.
