Well, in my search to add another Red Sea endemic, I picked up an Eightline Flasher Wrasse yesterday. Unfortunately, I wasn't not home most of the day today (Father's Day) to witness what was going on in my tank.

When I finally looked at the tank late this afternoon, the poor think was lying on its side, breathing heavily. Minutes after pulling him out, he died.

I thought I did enough research online. At that point, my initial concern was my two tangs (purple and sohal). They seemed to ignore him the few times I saw him out.

After examining the wrasse a bit, I found this gash on his right side:

After thumbing through some old Reef magazines, I came across an article on wrasses. It had a bit of information that I unfortunately did not catch online. Flasher wrasse and dottybacks sometimes don't mix...and I have 3 fridmanis :x

I don't know for sure if it was their constant peckering or perhaps the trauma from what might be a slash from a tang scalpel, that did him in.

Or the fact it might have run straight into the sand when being chased/scared, hitting a rock on the way, or a piece of something in the sand, unless your sandless :D
