Well Saturday I did a waterchange on my 100ga. All was going great until I was siphoning and pumping back up. I thought I had everything going good until the water started overflowing on side of tank. 8O

Started freaking out and before I could unplug anything.......my lights went out. :( I dried everything up and lights would not come on. I called the LFS and they told me to let it dry over night and everything should be fine. WRONG! Blowdried everything and waited over night. Still would not come on next day. :x

I ended up having to buy a new ballast. Set me back 180 @ LFS. Now I have to send my Icecap back to see if it can be repaired.

All is good again with the world & tank.

Wow, was your ballast on the floor where water could get in it? That has got to suck. I know I accidently knocked one of my 250w metal halide bulbs butt first into the water, luckily my electronic ballast apparently has some short circuit protection because it cut out instantly. Of course I was fearing the worse (a $70 bulb that's only a few weeks old down the crapper), luckily after drying everything out it fired up without an issue. I'm also lucky it fell in butt first so the bulb itself didn't touch water or else it would have surely cracked.

All electricity off the floor and make sure you loop all your electric wire so that salt water does not drip back into the sockets or to the equipments. At least build a platform off the floor for your equipments.
I am glad that you only lost 180.00 and did not get electrocuted. Consider it a cheap lesson.

Thank you all for letting me vent! Ballast is now mounted on the wall. No more electrical outlets on floor.
