Scientific Grade Marine Salt is the one in question. (Not sure if there is another coralife salt out there, but just in case)

How does it compare to Instant Ocean's? Any pros and cons would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :D

I have used it, but found that the tank did not look as good as it did with IO.

Thanks Dan!

Anyone else? I have a bucket of it waiting to be open. I bought in hopes that it would yield more salt water than IO. I like the fact that they bag their salt in 3 resealable 50 gallon bags inside the bucket! But again, I'm waiting to see if anyone actually likes Coralife and has had good experience with it or else I might return it.

I've used it a lot, and honestly haven't noticed any significant difference b/w it and IO (but I still use IO as my brand of choice).

I have used Coralife salt now for 10 months and I like it. It is always consistent. For what it's worth, the stack of IO bags are high at my lfs, but there are usually only a few buckets of Coralife.

Do they mix to different salinities?

I don't know. I never mix salt based on the stated cups-to-gallon ratios. I just gradually add it to my mixing can until my refractometer reads 1.025

--we were totally out of salt and i was asked if some could be had. i said no, because i didn't know if it was safe to use...

It has about 20 times the amount of lithium ion in it as other salt mixes, and natural sea water.

Although this might protect your fish against bouts of manic depression, Li+ is also a neurotoxin, and many have reported that CoralDeath salt is crap, as is pretty much everything made by that company (eg: lights).

I've been using it for approx. 8 weeks without problems.

My water clarity is good, water tests out fine, animals seem happy enough.

I don't mix by the gallon, rather I mix till my refractometer reads 1.025

Both IO and Coralife salts are popular in my area.
