I was so excited when I with my first saltwater aquarium and now this empty tank looks halirious to me compared to the reef I have now.

Anyone else keep old pictures of when they first started?

This what it looked like about a year later with better lighting, some live rock, base rock and some dead coral my mom found on vacation (all of which has been replaced with LR).
That heater looks so big right there in the center. I can't describe how excited I was when I felt confident enough to upgrade by plumbing a sump, replacing that crushed coral to live sand, and aquascaping with all my new live rock!!!

My digital camera isn't working so unfortunately I can't post what my tank looks like now, but it's drastically different from all of these!

Here's a couple of mine from around 1988. 55g, crush coral, UG filter, 40W NO light, Skilter skimmer, heater and air pump. No LR or LS just dead coral for decor. Really like that tank even if I didn't know what I was doing.

I totally forgot about the skilter skimmer and the underground filter! Man was I happy to get rid of those. We had the exact same set up.

The fish are beautiful by the way.
I was too scared to have anything but damsels and clowns. To this day I'm still nervous about adding anything and I've been doing this for years. My set up is more impressive than what actually lives in it (lol) but it's getting there.

I really like my Rock Beauty and Puffer. Wish I could have a puffer again but not with a reef.
