I found a guy who removed the standard bioballs, and drip plate from the back of his uniquarium, and replaced the space with 3/4 live rock at the bottom, and then a layer of cheato algae at the top. It's a 40 gallon, and it's simply incredible. Nitrates are non existent... Does anybody have any insight on this type of a retro fit and what type of light and duration the cheato needs to grow properly? Finally there may be some hope for all of us frustrated uniquarium owners.

The type of light is basically any, chaeto will grow with a standard Flo. tube, and as far as duration, 8-12 hours is good. Better if the lights are on in the refugium when the lights are off in the main tank.
