Coralife Super Skimmers

Does anyone have experience with Coralife Super Skimmers ? They seems to be quite a bit cheaper than other more well know brands like the AquaC Remora that I currently have.

I've heard they are good too but the consensus with HOB skimmers is AquaC remora.

I have one and like it very much. It's my first needle wheel skimmer, so I can't really compare it to anything. But it does pull a fair amount of skimmate out, either wet or dry (depending on how you set it.) For the money, it seems solidly made and so far (4 months) very reliable.

i also have one and i second what john henry said about it. it also is super quiet.

I am using the 150g needle skimmer in a 45 gallon set-up. The only problem I have is that it is very sensitive to the amount of water in the sump. My tank evaporates a lot of water. I probably should have used one of the smaller ones---not sure, still new to this stuff. It has been doing a great job so far(5 months)

my only complaint is it spits out a lot of bubbles into my tank but it is a good price.

I got the 220g version of the super skimmer on my tank. I have mixed feelings over it. First the intake has a plastic cone screen that NEEDS to be on it, if it's not then the thing will pull too much water in and venturi action won't occur. That screen can also get clogged with junk reducing the amount of flow and as a result the bubble level in the skimmer, so you need to keep ontop of making it clean.

Also I'm not sure about the design but it seems there's one outer shell and an inner shell, now there are zero bubbles in the outer area which makes me wonder what in the hell it's for.

Overall it's not a bad skimmer for the money, but if you want some serious skimming ability might want to look into a pricier brand (ASM, EuroReef, etc)
