In the past it's always been pretty obvious what algae I've had, green spheres, brown dots on the glass purple haze on the glass etc have always been easy to id. Right now, I've some kind of Thread algae... occassionally with tiny trapped gas spheres in it... To me it looks like the pictures of algae being expelled from a turbinaria ( i think) in one of the Reef Aquarium books by Sprung and Delbeek, but it's on the rocks as well as on a few of my corals. Any good links for algae pictures or comments on what it might be or how to fight it... flow and phosphate fighting is about all I can think of as my snails aren't doing much.

I've had new lights for a month and a half but this has only just started to appear. I did get some new frags just before it popped up everywhere... so I guess it may have been introduced on a coral?

That to me sounds like cyanobacteria, is there any way you can post a picture? Does it look like the sutff in the picture in this thread?

Cyano comes in different colors, but that thread should give you the general idea about how cyano looks.

Kinda hard to search when all you have is what it looks like... If I knew what it was called I wouldn't have to search :)

What I really need is tons of pictures of typical reef aquarium nuisance algae and then some info on them all.

It's not really a mat like in those pictures I have had cyno that forms strands in the past so I know what you are thinking I have but what I have now is much stringier.

I hope I didn't sound too rude. I'm sure I'll use that link but maybe not for this application :)

I ordered another Tunze circulating pump a few days ago and I just found out it's back ordered and they won't get a delivery til the end of July! Great! I think Circulation is definitely contributing to my woes and now I have to wait.

Thanks
