not to take up for the guy, but if you had read reviews, both here and elsewhere you would have expected that reaction from the phone call you made. If you buy from them you get a tank built like a tank that doesnt leak that is about 1/3 of the price of other companies. It may not be perfect, but they make good water holders :) Again, I'm very satisfied with my 65 cube that he made from 1/2 inch glass. It doesnt leak, and looks great now that its done.

I think the bottom line is that you get what you pay for.

Ranger, if your lookin for a glass tank I can send you pics of mine so you'd know exactly what you would get should you buy from them. For me it was either pickup my tank and accept no customer service or pay an extra $350 for another brand :) I choose the first option.

Lower prices shouldn't equal bad asthetics and horrible customer service. Matter of fact, I'd rather pay a little more to have something that looks nicer and from someone that actually cares about me as a customer. EVEN if it is something that you're not constantly looking at. Not to mention the leak, which is unacceptable with tanks.

I can't grasp what kind of business, regardless of how much cheaper their product is, would not care to keep customers... :?

wow, the sump you got kinda looked like the one i tried to make. mine leaked. maybe he just hired some new help and this was the result. anyways i agree, you should have gotten what they advertised no matter what the cost. they showed you a cadilac and gave you a pinto.

Snow - the advertised tank was a clean cut tank. Not a pieced together tank. Its false advertising what you are getting.

Yeah, and you shoudn't have to put up with rudeness and yelling when you have a complaint. That's just bad business.

They should have a disclaimer on the website: "The quality of your purchase may vary from the image shown." :D That will help sales, I'm sure.

You really need to send a letter to the BBB for your state and the state where this place is located and also contact your (and their) states attorney general. They handle fraud and bait and switch for all buisnesses licensed in their state.

As far as the small dollar amount, contact the BBB and the attorney general offices. My wife did it for a $45 item last year. We got the $45 and all it cost was postage on a few letters.

Good luck with this. You deserve a product like what was advertised no matter the cost of the item. I too would be very unhappy and frustrated right now. Step and don't lower yourself. Arm yourself with your rights and the laws of the states involved. Time is money and your time could get your money back.

Thanks for posting this. I had seen a few unhappy customers, but none of them explained their experience as well as you did.

I was planning on purchasing a 240 gallon aquarium from Glass Cages since I live in Nashville, TN and could have picked it up locally, but that's just too much money to put into a product that the manufacturer isn't going to stand behind.

I called their office the other day to ask them a few questions and got the same impression as many others did. The lady on the phone did not ask me how she could help. She actually sounded pretty put out that she had to answer my questions. I guess I interrupted her game of solitaire.

In any case, please know that your experience has at least helped me make up my mind to avoid Glass Cages no matter how good of a deal their tanks seem.

The customer service is completely independent from what the tanks are made out of.

But on top at sucking with dealing with customers, maybe they also suck with acrylic. :wink:

One thing though, these instances have definitely skewed my view on GC.

You're right, I haven't heard anything bad at all about their glass tanks, but if I'm gonna lay that type of cash out I want to know it's not going to be a pain in my butt to get problems fixed should they arise. I'd rather buy from an individual who I know isn't going to give me any type of customer service after the sale than from a company who treats their customers like that.

I am glad that I could be of some assistance.
At this point, I am indifferent to whether they make anything well, they are a mediocre company with horrible service.

I'll make sure and speak up about these companies in the future. I have held my tongue about other companies service experiences in the past.

BTW, I wrote a letter to the BBB in TN.
I am calling them this week after I recover from the pile of papers which awaits me at work after my extended absence.

when a bussiness is oviusl trying to screw you you should try to screw them twice as hard

and this is why i stick with drfostersmith icecap tunze ^^ best customer service

anyways i thought tenecor did bad on my tank . thanks for showing it could of been alot worse
