Ok, trying to figure out something, if I put my ph controller in my main tank and keep it at 8.3, would there be enough calcium released, or does it not work that way????

I dont think it works that way. You need to get the PH in the reactor low enough to breakdown the media.

i really hate this, trying to figure out the best settings. but i guess when it works it would be nice, now if i can only find space to put the reactor it would even be better.

regal,

You want to test the ph coming out of the reactor.... one simple way to do this is to let it drip into a cup and then test the ph of what's in the cup...

Many people monitor their tank's ph (like myself) rather than their reactors effluant... I do check the effulent ph every once in a while though... speaking of which I should do that tonight...

NO. They are different.

You need the PH low enough in the reactor to break down the media. If the PH got that low in the tank you would not have a reef.
