my live rock has been in my 55 gallon tank for about 2 weeks now and is starting to get alot of algae, should i be concerned about any of this algae? is that bubble algae that i see? what kind of clean up crew would reccomend to combat this?
That is fast, just in two weeks and your algae? Is this a F/O tank and if so, how long are you having the tank lights on for? If this is a reef tank, you could also look into urchins and the smaller growing sea cucumbers and no, you not look to have bubble algae thank god.
The hair algae is a normal part of the onset of a new tank. The picture is not the best but it does look like you may have some Valonia sp. (bubble algae) on your rocks. Simply let it grow larger and gently twist the bubble and pluck it of the rock. It's not that big of deal.
See if you can get a closer clearer picture of your rock to be sure.
Snails and time will take care of the hair algae.
