I am planning on adding a LPS or two to my tank. It is 2yo FOWLR right now. The tank is a 10g hex. Due to size constraints, i am only able to fit about 60w PC lighthing into the hood. I have 50/50 now.

I think it would be cool to have a big hammer, torch and frogspan under all actinic lighting to make them fluoresce. Is there anything in the daylight spectrum that corals require?

Unsure about the current research that has been done as far as particular wavelength but I do know that actniic light watt for watt has WAY less light energy than daylight bulbs.

I've seen tanks with all actinic lighting. You obviously have to restrict yourself to low light corals like LPS, but it can be done successfully.

FWIW, I would worry about that being a lot of coral for a 10 gallon Hex in terms of having them too close together as they may sting each other. The euphila sp. can create some nasty sweeper tentacles.

I have white actinics and blue actinics on my tank. My corals are thriving.

That's cuz the white actinics are a blend, and thus not a true actinic ;)
