Hi--
I've been dosing calcium and bicarbonate and trace elements manually for a while in my tank and have just picked up a 4 channel chemical doser to automate the process. I can either dose calcium and bicarbonate separately on two channels or fork out some extra $$ for a kalkwasser reactor and do it that way.

From everything I've read, Kalkwasser seems a tad messier but a lot cheaper in the long run, especially since my tank is a 800 gallon sps tank.

Any thoughts on kalkwasser reactors you like for large tanks, and what your experience with them has been in terms of ease of use, realiability, etc.? Thanks.

I don't know any commercial kalkreactors made for a 800 gallon, but smaller ones will work. You will simply have to top it off more often with kalk. Ecotech's reactor, Deltec's, and Geo's should all work. I've seen all three in action and they're all well designed. I prefer the stirring designs like Ecotech or Deltec.

I've seen people use home-made trash-can type kalk stirrers if you're looking for less maintanence.
