Ok so I am being overrun w/ velonia and am hoping an urchin or two will help thin this mess out. But I am wondering if the urchin(s) would be safe w/ my 3' yellow headed moray and a largish lion fish? All the snails I have in the tank are doing fine if that is any indicator?

Thanks in advance!

Neither should bother or eat the urchin. I'm not sure how much luck you'll have with Valonia though, but it doesn't hurt to try.

One of the long-spined black urchins, such as Diadema setosum, will gladly eat your bubble algae and be safe with your eel and lionfish.

I would be wary of sticking a long spine urchin in with a moray. Not for the sake of the urchin, but of the moray. A spine in the eye while the eel is on a hunting foray seems like a possibility I wouldn't want to risk.

Having said that they make great algae grazers. :D
