I just installed a new barracuda for my CL. It took the place of two noisy mag 18s and was well worth the money. Not only do I have more flow, the noise reduction is huge. The barracuda has 1.5" inlet and outlets. I have two 1.25" OTB intakes which T into 2" pipe down to the pump. I then have 2" pipe with runs up to a T which then reduces down to a 1" super squirt and a 1" open flow system. About every fiften to twenty minutes one or the other return systems pumps a surge of microbubbles (which have been building up somewhere) into the tank.

Any ideas how to trace the source of micro bubbles?

How deep is the input? Watch the input and see if it suck in air as the water level drop slightly.

The Intake holes start at about 8 to 9 inches from the surface. No whirlpools here. I am thinking that I have some sort of venturi effect happening on one of my joints and was hoping there is a fool proof method of finding the leak.

Close the outlets with caps or valve, and put a brushing on the last remain opening. The brushing need to have an adaptor for a bike pump, and pressurize it to about 10 psi. If there is any leak on that thing, it wil be audible if not visible.

Believe it or not, I had a suspect leak in mind and put my ear to the pipe until I heard a surge of air run through the pipe. My wife looked at me funny as I did it several times over a few hours. When I found the leak I cut it out like the cancer it was. It was a threaded fitting for filling the CL when it was new. I simply put an end cap on it realizing that I can prime the CL with a funnel at the union valve. Learn something new every day.
