An employee at my LFS recommended I try "Control Aiptasia" from blue life usa. They have a website but it is "under construction".

I bought a bottle and now I'm somehow not anxious to use it. I can't find any references to it on the web so I don't even have anecdotal evidence of its reefsafeness nor its effectiveness. Also, I don't know what's in it so I'm suspicious.

Anyone used it or heard of it?

I haven't tried this product but I'm most interested in hearing any info if you come across it. I'm going to try a small gang of peppermint shrimps first. Stop Aiptasia and Joe's Juice work and are reef-safe IME, but once you have too many to deal with (or if they're in problematic areas), biological control is the only reasonable option.

Good Luck with the Peppermint shrimps. I've had no luck keeping them alive... No one else seems to have a problem with them.

Not had this problem with other shrimp so I'm not sure why I've had this problem.

Do you have other shrimps that might be killing the smaller peppermints? I'm worried about my Fire Shrimp. I doubt my cleaner shrimps will do much damage.

I added a peppermint shrip to my tank and he ate all the aptasia in my tank within 2 days. Unfortunately my clown fish ate him up during a molt :x The aptasia is starting to come back now. If you have enough hiding places for a shrimp, i would highly recommend them over any miracle "concoction."

Len, I've had smaller pepps in with skunk cleaners and huge blood shrimp with no problems. You should be okay. I'd get around 5-10 for your tank, IF it really exists.

Peace,

Chip

Kind of a side ha ha. I went to a LFS, well not really local, but with in driving distance, that I saw on TV. I go in and right away I can tell that the SW "reef" tanks are not all that great. I thought well I will have a look at their display tank anyway. My wife was in front of me walking towards it and I can here her under her breath mutter "Oh my gosh that is HUGE!". Which cooincidentaly I never get tired of hearing lol. Anywho, I look in the display tank and the centerpiece of the tank is an Aptasia that is at least 8 inches tall and 5-6 around. I have never seen an aptasia that large. Of course there were smaller ones all over the tank as well. The owner come up and was bragging about how well he can get those "corals" to grow. He was a little suprised when I informed him they weren't corals and were infact a bad thing. He said that made sense since he couldn't figure out why the rest of the things in the tank were receding or dying.

Opelika Alabama ouch, Living in Tuscaloosa I already have a prejudice against that town. I'm continually surprised at how little alot of stores know about what they are doing.

If you want to be safe, just use some kalkwasser mixed with R/O water and inject the suckers. Just be careful the excess doesn't land on any corals.
I've got Peppermints,Fire and Cleaner Shrimp all existing happily for years. However I do still have some Aiptasia in the tank.
You could also try a Berghia Nudibranch although I have never seen them available at any LFS near me.

So no one has used this stuff yet it seems.

As to using Kalk... I seem to knock them down and they respond by reproducing 10 times faster.

kalk paste doesn't work for me. Stop Aiptasia and Joe's Juice definitely does. I wonder if this new product isn't just some variant of the two.
