When a large feather duster is dying what does it look like?

When xenia is dying or dead what does it look like..

Basically at what point do you know it is too late.

I recently had some water issues, and everything is now stable, but these two are concerning me.

My feather duster looks like is feathers were in a fire.. Looks more like hair now.

Xenia has yet to open, and closed so tight that the ends that once flowed in the current are more like medium sized pin heads. The still move a mit when the wate hit it... Are these creatures dead? or still adjusting......... My other corals have started to slowly open back up as of late evening yesterday, but have not fully opened. If i did not provide enough information let me know by telling me i am an idiot who will never learn......

My calcuim is readin a little high currently about 540... Everything else is perfect..

Xenia is not a complete gonner until it is mushy and decomposing. At any point until then it can still rebound.

I think feather dusters will shed their crown of feathers when they are getting ready to kick the bucket, but I am not sure.

What Laura said about Xenia, they basically just dissolve when they die. Don't give up on them yet-but they are sensitive to water quality issue and get pissy when things aren't to their liking.

As far as the featther duster, is the crown still attached or did it shed it?

when you refer the crown i would assume the part closest to the inside? That is still fully intact. THe feathers are what appears to be burned. Or have the fine hair look.

The feathery thing you see sticking out/getting pulled back in is the crown, yes. If it is intact, hold tight it ain't dead yet ;) nothing you can do really just hope for the best and try and stabilize the water.
