sorry about the first picture being so big. Here is another. And yes I am talking about the green mass on the rock!
I don't know a lot about spunges are the good , or bad what do they do, eat, and how big do they get?
The entire bottom of all my LR is covered in them. Anywhere that the MH does not directly hit has them covering them. As Len said they are filter feeders. I have three color variations. White, purple and green. Whenever I move a piece of LR it seems they migrate back to the darkside of the rock. I personally have never had any issues with them at all. I don't feed them specifically or really pay them any attention at all.
Thankyou for everyones help!! I have another question if anyone can help?
In my Tank I have live sand, and no matter how much I clean my tank I alwais have a layer of algea that keeps re-growing like a bed of carpet. I use my vacume hose to try and suck it out but It only seems to
stur up the tank and I end up haveing to scoop it out with a net. And then
in two days time it's back. I want my sand to be clean and it never is
The only solution is to reduce the nutrient load in the tank. Keep removing the algae, feed less, change more water, skim more, consider a sump filled with macroalgae that can be harvested, ...
Reduce lighting and feed less and everything SciGuy Said. It's called cyano bacteria and it's a b@tch to get rid of. I had it, got over it after a fine battle.
