I always used to see all sorts of life in my tank at night when I sneaked in with a flash light and now I never see that much... I have to look around a lot to find any 'pods'

Strangly though, I just put some cheato in the sump so now I have a light down there to see what's going on.

I've seen life down there without a light so I took a peek.... well nothing much in the chaeto but the bottom of my Phosban reactor has about 40 of them swimming about... doomed I guess.

I have no pods in my tank anymore. They all must have died during the recuring process. This is probably a bad thing.

If you have a wet/dry for your tank they end up in the bottom , underneath the bio-balls before the sponge. I left a large bag of charcoal down there that they use to nest in

You can reintroduce them if you'd like Rob, by getting some from a local hobbyist or add a new piece or two of live rock. There are a few places online that sell pure cultures, I've used them and they work well but area bit pricey IMO.

Funny thing is that I always had more hanging out on the bag of carbon than I get hanging out in the Chaeto. I've got City-pods... not those rural-hill billy pods.

In my nano cube I have no fish so I see pods everywhere all day long. They dont seem to have a lighting preference as I see them in the back sump portion as well. In my 55 I see them in my little hang on refugium, on the glass at night, and in the filter pad when I run a little HOB filter.
