Dig your claws, fins or grubby little hands into this one if you will.

I'm in the process of cycling my new 90 gallon tank with 30 gallon sump/fuge and now i've come to the fun part. Trying to nail down what fish I wanna buy in the next year or so to stock it with. Quick stats on tank

90 gallon AGA older reef ready model with the returns drilled in high on the corners. This weekend i'm adding a one inch bed of crushed coral then another inch of fine coral sand as a substrate. I'll be working on the fuge but it will be a normal macrgo algae/pod farm on reverse daylight.
Will be a mixed Sps/zoo/softy tank

Right now this is my must have list

Pair of gold banned marroon clowns
Mandarin (after 6 months or so)
Yellow or Atlantic Blue tang

I would also like to add

Flame Angel
Red Sea Mimic
Royal Gramma

I'm just worried the second list might be to high of a bioload and i'm worried abit about the angel picking at corals and the Gramma being acting like a big boss

I wouldn't worry about the gramma in a tank that big. The flame angel is cause for concern. Maybe you can consider one of the genicanthus species of angels. If you're worried about price, the lamarck is cheaper compared to the others.

As far as the mimic tang...maybe go with some sort of bristletooth tang. Again, as far as cost...the yellow-eyed kole is nice looking and cheap.

Peace,

Chip

Sorry Chip, I should have been detailed (I swear i'll get better)

What I should have said was

Red Sea Mimic Blenny (Ecsenius graveri)

I'm worried the Blenny and Mandarin might end up competting for the same food and space.

Hi Lles and :welcome:

I think your list is fine as far as bioload. I wouldn't worry about the gramma being too bossy in that tank. It will tend to stick in its own territory, and the maroons, tang, and angel all will be able to hold their own against a gramma. In fact the gramma may end up being the one being picked on. But I don't see this as a cause for concern. I don't know anything about the mimic blenny. The angel is always a concern for picking on corals and clams. I personally love pygmy angels but I still won't risk keeping them with my clams. Hopefully it will work out for you though. Good luck with the new tank!
