I purchased the coralife power centre about 5 months ago.

It periodically wouldn't turn off over that time. It not will not shut off at all. I contacted the retailer where I purchased it from and they told me to contact Coralife. I sent them an email regarding my situation. They said I had to ship it to them and they would send me a new one. I paid $31.00 for it and the cheapest shipping that will get it there anytime soon is like $25.00 (Ontario - California). On top of that I've heard horror stories of getting the new one shipped back and having to pay "Brokerage Fees" of up to $45.00 (COD) to cross the border charged by FED-EX or whomever ships it.

What to do? Suck it up and just not buy coralife products anymore!

i have had bad luck with the coralife powercenter too. i would count it as a loss and buy something else, shipping across border is expensive and too much hassle. if they ship fedex or ups they will charge you a broker fee :(

I've had mine for over a year with no problems. I'm just running my lights on it though.

I argued with the store and told them how much it was going to cost me to send it back to CA. They have agreed to replace it. I guess they wish to keep me as a customer.

Is yours the dial or the digital?

Just wanted to let everyone know that my second Coralife Power Center that I got from the store just died with the same problem after just 3 months. Turns the lights on but not off. Took it back to the store and now have my third one. These things are obviously garbage. But I got the three year warranty from the store for a couple of bucks so I'll just keep returning them.

FWIW, coralife lights are annoying too. I've got the pc lighting setup, and every time I have to change out the bulbs, it's usually heart attack central to see if they will start up again. I've found the entire "hood" to be very cheaply made.

I had the exact same problem immediately with that (dial) dual timer. I sent it back and received a new one, which now also won't turn off (~4 months of use). Obviously a serious flaw in its design. I've considered going with the digital version since I assume the problem is with the mechanical aspect of it, but seeing this post makes me reluctant to further support this company unless they issued a recall with free replacements. I think I'll go to the cheapo (~$13) timex individual timers they sell at Lowes. Get the kind that you can click on or off each hour, because I've had those little inserts pop out before on the others. Also be sure to buy the heavy-duty grounded type if you go with these.

I have heard many people complain about the corallife timers and power centers. I would just stay away from them. :D

i have them digital model, and i find it works just fine.
i have had it over a year.

but then, i have never gotten it wet, never dropped it,
keep it dust free/clean, and mount it off the floor.

turns my lights on and off and i use the extra plugs
for small pumps in the sump.

I too have the digital version and it has worked flawlessly since day one, about a year. The thing I don't like about it is that you cant 'program' it, just one on and one off time. Hope it keeps working.

My problems have been specific to the dial. So I assume the digital may not have this problem.

umm..my timex just stopped working (turning) after about a year so I no longer recomend these. I suggest getting a helper-monkey to turn lights on/off. Just make sure to install a poo-guard.
