I'm looking at tank stands for my 75 gallon tank and I like the looks of the Perfecto Sedona stand http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/P ... 004+113764 but the matching canopy description mentions the top is made of tempered glass. I have VHO bulbs I will need to mount in the canopy and I don't see how that will work. Unfortunately none of the LFS in my area carry this unit so all I have to go by are the pictures I can find on the web. Has anyone any experience with this canopy and lighting.

I'll move this to the General Discussion and see if more people know about this stand/canopy. The description is ambigious: I have no idea what the glass access panels are.

Hmm, from what I can tell (and this is just a guess), the top of the canopy is made of tempered glass and opens via a hinge. I'm not sure why the designed it this way (if this is indeed the case). You will need reflectors to bounce the light back into the tank, or perhaps paint or line the glass top.

The glass panels are removable accessories that just sit on top of the canopy, it is designed to look like the smoked glass on the front of an entertainment center or a furniture piece. Would be very difficult to attatch any retrofit lighting to it, and even if you did you would then have to remove the entire canopy just to access the water surface. Your best bet with this canopy would be some sort of PC fixture like the Aqualights.
