Had a recent Fish kill :( I lost several Trgger Fish the nitrite level was off the chart.I vacumed a lot of junk from under base rock and in the Tank. There are two small groupers and two small niger triggers in the Tank I replaced the two triggers I lost.I did several 50 percent water changes and the reading was in the middle range still a little high.I think I should feed them every other night to try to reduce the nitrite to acceptable levels. The Tank is a 55 Gallon Tank with a hang on wet dry filter with a built in skimmer and I have a 60 Gallon whisper Filter on it.There was no ammonia in the tank but the nitrite level was high at the time of the fish kill :x .I know most of the problem was over feeding and to high of a bioload. The fish are all going to stay so the bioload will be heavy I could use some advice from the fish Gods on this Matter thanx for the help

Get a new skimmer and ditch the wet dry.
Plan on doing at least a 10 gal water change every week.
Feeding 2 to 3 times a week should be ok.
What type of substrate do you have?
Live rock?

snapper sorry for your losses well first of all if your nirite was off the charts that means your nitrifying bacteria is not keeping up you got to give it time to build back up but sometimes that can take up to 30 days. start feeding light also i would recommend getting a hang on overflow and a sump/fuge that will work two fold not only by adding water volume but also as a bio filter put a 2-3 inch sand bed in fuge some live rock and some caulerpa algae run a light on there opposite of display and if you can try to avoid the big water changes the 50% was fine considering your situation at the time but IMO you should not change more than 20-25% a month or 5-6 gal. a week for your tank oh yeah and a good skimmer
