changing out substrate tonight to good ol.. argonite sand. Gonna make a dust storm in there... cant get around it.

will the "dust" harm the corals? or should the be ok as long as I blow them off when the storm subsides?

Did ya soak it first Snow? That helps a lot by the way if you wet the substrate for 48 hrs before you install it, gives the particles a chance to soak and sink. Your coral should be fine as long as you gently dust'em off afterwards.

My blue damsel tends to be an avid digger. He has covered my corals before with aragonite and the corals simply extend their polyps and wipe off the sand. They may even take the opportunity to soak up some calcium from the sand. WHo knows.

They should be fine but im wondering by taking all the substrate out all at once will that upset the biological stability of your tank?

It will possibly spike on you a little Snow, just keep an eye on it and have saltwater made up for a massive change if things go wonky.
