Rather than rubberband a mushroom type coral I would place it into a little container of rubble rock in an area of low flow and allow it some time to attach.

Good luck.

you can loosely rubberband it but it might cause the ricordea to split in 2. Not necessarily a bad thing. An easier way would be using a needle to pin it to a rock. Or you can put it in a low flow area on a piece of rubble and it will attach itself. Or if you have larger sized substrate like crushed coral, just let it sit on the bottom until it attaches to a piece of the crushed coral, then super glue the crushed coral onto a bigger rock.

Ive placed it in a container on the bottom wiht rubble. I expect that it will attach in the next few weeks .. low flow.. bottom of tank under 400w DE MH 14K Hamilton.

Toothpicks through it into the rock will work too.

Did you ever see my response to your Plato thread? I'd like to see current pictures of him, if you still got him, of course! :D

And while you're at it, let's see this ricordia of yours. Sounds sweet!

Well, just post as many pictures of your tank as you can, and it'll make us feel a little better about Len's tank... Well, not really. But let's see your tank anyways!

if your worried it will float away you could put some rubble in a small dish, than put the ricordia on the rubble than rubberband some netting over the dish so he wont float away.

how long should the attachment proccess take? <--- Im kinda impatient sometimes. I know.. the bane of reefers

I'll try to get some pics this afternoon when my light comes on.

And yes, I do still have PLATO :) He's da man. He's a little bigger than my fist now... nice coral.

as far as the ric goes.. i'll try to get a pic, but might be hard to snap one since it isnt laid out flat attached to somthing yet.

This takes about thirty days to work and I read it on line and tried it. It works. Otherwise, the thing may never attach. That is my experience. Take a shot glass with clean rubble and use wedding veil over the top of it with a rubber band. Go to one of those places that sell cloth and you can buy just a yard of the the veil. Don't disturb the glass for thirty days (very important because the last few days is when it will attach) and put it someplace in the tank where stuff doesn't rain down on the veil. Done this twice with success each time. Don't try glue because it will rip itself off of it. That's been my luck, anyway.
