I fell asleep last night and forgot to turn the light off. I had a feeling something was wrong with him already. He didn't have the reaction to the flash light like he used to. This morning I wake up to the hermits eating him.

I had to throw him away. I'm not happy!

Probably starved to death, they are quite a nice filter feeder and unless you have an extremely dirty tank, or feed it constantly they don't live long although 7 months isn't too shabby.

Sorry to hear that.

What type? Thony oyster, or bearded?

They are not easy, but hitchhiker can last for years.

Sorry to hear that, Crissy.

Buy a cheap appliance timer for your lights. No need to be a slave to them when $10 will take care of your lights automatically.

Yea Oysters love to eat. My oyster died last week. WHats weird it the nitrates didnt spike so I guess something ate him once the shell opened. Oysters pretty much eat all day unless the shell is closed of course. Basically they need an endless supply of plankton.

Almost 18 years of FW and I never figured it out until I started SW. :?

I am sorry to hear about the oyster. I would have given my condolences sooner, but, yesterday was a horrible tank day.

Evidently I didn't have enough food in my tank. I fed him marine snow 3x a week. I didn't know he liked to eat that much.

Thanks for all your comments.
