ok, i might not have any high flow low light corals to put under my table acropora: http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=92139

i am now thinking about pruning it. it grows too fast and isnt very pretty, a plain brown color. is there any way to cut big sections of it off or do i need to chip away? it is encrusted on the big rocks already so i cant remove it.

The best thing would be to chip away with some pliers. Maybe with a diagonal nose pliers.

I got really lucky when I removed my A. solitaryensis colony. It started as a one inch frag, so it was really encrusted on there. I wedged a mini flathead screwdriver into the rock, just below the base of the colony. Broke clean off.
