We always tell our selves we are going to research everything we buy. Then you walk into the LFS and see that really cool creature. Of course you buy it and bring it home, acclimate it and into the tank it goes. Then realize that it's not compatible with your tank. DOH!

Just bought a chocolate chip starfish last night to go into my reef tank. It's going back to the store tonight. I always research my purchases before hand to ensure compatibility. Hope it doesen't go crazy while I'm at work today.

For three weeks I thought mine was just 'hugging' my zoanthids.

You bought an unremarkable, ugly, dull, nondescript, brown turbo coral eater of a critter....dropped him in your tank, and went to work....nice work, just brilliant...wouldn't Drano be faster?

It's back at the LFS and I got credit since there was nothing else that looked all that nice. Nothing seemed to be lost so all is good.

Pretty smart of me

Yeah, gotta watch out for stars, conchs, crabs, urchins, shrimp, (no nudibranchs, ever) and obviously fish.

When I was younger I came home with a football sized Queensland Grouper for my 135 gallon grouper/trigger tank. He was sold to me (as they often are sold to people still) as a Bumble Bee Grouper. I had no idea of the actual species or how big he would get. More importantly, at that time I had no appreciation for the swallowing capacity of this species….truly a marine snakehead. He ended up at Steinhart Aquarium eventually after inhaling a 9” Miniatus Grouper in the wee hours one morning.

Don't feel bad. The zoos I had rescued 3 years ago and finally succeeded in getting them to fully cover their rock are prolly not gonna make it. I moved it into my 25 whilst I was taking care of bubblealgae problem in my lobsters tank.

Came back and found out that urchins think they're popcorn :(

I now have 4 or 5 'nubs' left

I bought a chocolate chip star and placed it into my reef tank. It did move around a bit, I was worried, but then my harlequin shrimp found him and is now in the process of making a chocolate chip meal out of him.
