Hey all,

I have been reading in the forums and in various books about aquascaping with epoxy to cement live rocks together.

Specifically, The Conscientious Marine Aquarist recommends the use of a substance called Plumber's Buddy. However, I cannot find it in any stores near my location.

I am unsure of the brand or type of other epoxies or cements. Will all types of water-curing epoxies work (i.e. be unharmful to the fish/invertebrates/corals)? Marine epoxy (it says it cures underwater)? Brand names/pictures would be helpful.

Thanks for any information.

I've used a brand called Z-Spar for that purpose. It is very sticky and cures very hard and strong. Downside: only comes in 2-quart kits for about $70. It works better than anything else I've used though.

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into that brand. I just need a a few ounces, but it might also come in handy around the house.

Check any large "Home Depot" type store, they usually sell the underwater 2 part epoxy in the plumbing department, just be sure it's for plumbing applications, which means it is safe for drinking water.

I have had good results with Holdfast and Aquastic epoxy. Be ready for your skimmer to go nuts. I do a 20% water change and turn the skimmer down. It will come around in a couple of days.
