How many holes are too many when drilling tanks?

I'm looking to drill a 50G (36"x18"x18") that I'm trying to put together and wanted to know what the limit of holes in should drill in the back should be. I'm looking to only drill for 1" and 3/4" bulkheads, and I was tentatively going for two 1" drains, one 1" closed loop drain, and one 3/4" return from sump. That would total 4 holes in the back. Is that too many?

No, not too bad. Important thing is to make sure they are not too close to the corner, or have them too close to each other.

That's more reasuring. How far off the corners should I stay? And how far apart from each other?

Obvious thing is not so close to the corner that the bulkhead won't fit. I would say at least a inch or two from the edges.

As to the spacing between the hole, I would say at least 1 inch between the edge of the holes. Two inch will be more comfortable. You can't cut too close if you are doing it yourself on a glass tank anyway.

I'd give yourself more room than 2" on a glass tank. It should be ok, but I'd rather be safe than soffy. 2" in 1/4 or 1/2" plexi should be fine.

Yea Ive been considering drilling some grow growout tanks but Ive got to do research on how exactly to do it. One thing I know for sure is to make sure that they are not tempered glass.
