lighting upgrade question

i currenly have a 90 gallon reef/fish setup and have that nifty coralife 48inch hood with 2 hqi 150 and the 2x96 tube light things and was wondering if i can upgrade the ballast and make or buy them 250 watt hqi? will i melt my hood? anyone know if i can just buy the ballast and the bulb and plug it in? anyone ever tried this or had any success? i want to keep some acros but i don't feel i have the lighting for them placed mid tank.....

Unfortunately its not that easy. The sockets for the 150s and 250s are different as well.

Do you have room anywhere to add a couple of retro-fit 48 inch T5s? You could overdrive them with the Icecap ballast and improve their output with individual reflectors. This would increase your lighting, allow you to keep your current set-up, take up very little room and would be cost effective.
