Yes, just don't get the kind that is for doors and windows. It has a mildew inhibitor in it.

Also keep in mind that silicon does not make a permenant bond on acrylic.

The mildacide can be toxic in the tank. Never use bathroom tub and tile silicone. GE makes a 100 % silicone.

whew.. because i just used GE brand 100% siliconm, but it says door and window. I read the label.. nothing that says it isnt pure.

If it says anything about resisting mildew or mildew proof don't use it.

You can use silicon to attach acrylic baffles to a glass sump. That doesn't really require a permenant bond.

I once built an overflow compartment in a glass tank using acrylic. I used silicon because I didn't know better. That tank lasted over 5 years without any issues.

I tell you this just so you know that silicon isn't made to make a permenant bond between glass and acrylic. In fact, there is not a product made that does so. That doesn't mean that plenty of people haven't used it for that purpose with success.
