How often and what to feed a BTA?

I have a nice rose BTA that seams to be addapting to my tank just fine. Currently I feed it evey 3rd or 4th day. I use a small piece of shrimp. I had to experiment with the size a bit. To big and it would let it go, to small my fish would steal it. Does this sound good?

You can feed less often, once a week, or once every week and a half is fine. Feeding too much actually has the effect of stressing the animal, causing it to split. If you want lots of clones, feed as much as it will eat.

I've actually had animals that wouldn't accept anything offered directly to them, but thrived nevertheless.

Thanks Jim. I really do not want a bunch of clones. Once a week sounds good. My kids get a kick out of watching the BTA "swallow".

Fingernail size is good enough for most small BTA per feeding. You can also experiment with frozen fish, chopped silverside/mackrel, fresh mussel, and you can enjoy the leftovers.

I don't. I feed the tank and the clowns feed the anenome.

Wazz, I actually fed my BTA frozen mysis. I loved watching the tentacles grab them and move them to its mouth. The fish got a few of the mysis, but a lot went into the anemone.

I have 2 BTAs (since they first split) but my clowns took to hosting a trachyphyllia. (AND they only started hosting it after the anemones were introduced) :?

But yeah, since they split I only feed about 3 times a month. Still growing, but a little slower. Seem very happy.

You should get a pair of maroons to take care of it. Clowns don't need anemones, but anemones typically benefit from clowns.

I feed mine once a week. Mysis, prime reef or a piece of shrimp. Every time mine splits, It's fifty bucks from the fish store.

I've had mine 7.5 years now. They are good pets.
