My tank/laundry room doesnt smell like a nice day at the beach. I just mopped my tile floor with a strong vinegar solution and was wondering what other reefers do to freshen up their tank rooms when they get musty.

When it gets musty we run a dehumidifier, dries everything out and takes out the damp. Sometimes running a big fan helps too.

I have two windows open, and pretty much pulls all the stink out :)

Although the other day had my QT tank smell up something awful as I was given quite a few rescue SPS that were STNing, just had too much tissue loss and the next morning I almost tasted my breakfast when I went down there.

Empty the skimmer's collecting cup.

Louey

After I clean my skimmer's collection cup I put in 10-12 'beads' (for lack of the proper term) of Calcium Chloride. Doing this buffers the skimmate in the cup so it won't smell as badly. I read this in an article in Coral magazine awhile back and it actually works.
