That type of poison has no place here... as far as I can see, all Clare suggested (in a friendly way) was that use was made of the search function before resorting to the forums.... You two should count yourselves lucky that someone with her experience and knowledge takes the time to respond and save the aggro for somewhere else... Just a geuss, but I would say that she has put a lot more into the development of this hobby than the two of you ever will.....

(Looking around for Admins  )

I realize I was a bit harsh, but I dont feel it is ok to treat new members in such a condescending manner. Dont be so thin skinned Andy. In addition , it is rather foolish of you to question what I have contributed to the hobby cause u have no clue who I am . Dont assumptions based on no knowledge Mr. Do Goodie. I should be thankful for her takiing the time to complain about CAPS and pointing out the search function?........yeah that really helped the OP. It is wasteful complaining IMO. If the admins were doing there job they should be scolding greenighs for her treatment of the OP and not me for simply calling it like I see it.

"BIT harsh"? "Thin skinned"? You may want to check the UA at some stage... That type of flaming wouldnt be tolerated in the Sump, let alone Topside... I'm not going to get into an argument with you about your contribution to the hobby, I did say my comments were a geuss....
Anyway, pretty sure you will be getting a PM from the Admins soon, enjoy explaining it to them....

HERE IS MY TWO CENTS(IN CAPS)

OBVIOUSLY, I AM NEW. I DO NOT KNOW A LOT ABOUT THE HOBBY. I JOINED THE SITE FOR SUPPORT AND HELP FROM EXPIERNCED REEF KEEPERS. WE LEARN BY TALKING READING AND ASKING QUESTIONS. IF SOMEONE DOES NOT LIKE THE WAY I MAKE POST OR WHAT I HAVE TO SAY PM ME. DONT RUIN MY POST WITH NONSENSE. IF THE ADMINS. WANT TO BAN ME , THEN I GUESS I WAS NOT MENT TO BE A MEMBER. IF THESE SO CALLED EXPIERENCED PEOPLE HAVE ATTITUDES ABOUT HELPING NEW PEOPLE, THEN DONT BOTHER. I AM VERY OFFENDED BY WHAT GREENIGHS HAD TO SAY. I PERSONALLY THINK THAT THE ADMINS. SHOULD LOOK INTO HIS ATTITUDE ON NEWBIES.

*****POST ARE VOLUNTARY IF YOU DONT WANT TO HELP, DONT*****

I F I HAVE OFFENDED ANYBODY FROM ANY OF MY POST, I PERSONALLY APOLOGISE TO THEM.

ALL I WANTED WAS SOME GOOD ADVICE FROM EVERYBODY ABOUT WHAT I SHOULD DO. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION UPON READING THIS.

DONI NORTON :)

/greenighs pokes the newbie with a stick.

Seriously, dnor, chill. I was kidding ya. You got plenty o' info in this thread, there's room for a little joking around. It's an open forum, you don't get to pick and choose who responds to ya. So you're stuck with me! Bwaaaaahhhh haaaah haaaa!

All in good fun.

As you were.

Guys, please keep things civil and get back to the topic at hand. I'm amazed how badly it's spiralled in such quick fashion.

My personal opinion is:
1) I don't think Dnorton realizes what all caps signifies, and his use of all caps when responding to Claire's suggestion not to type in all caps propagated this conflict.
2) Claire's original response to Dnorton was not very constructive (e.g. nothing to do with the questions being asked, and her advice to not use all caps was not qualified with an explanation which would've likely prevented this mess from happening). I agree her follow-up responses may be viewed as condescending. It's certainly not very inviting, especially for a relatively new member.
3) I don't think anyone's experience in this hobby is license to act unbecoming. I disagree with andy37's opinion that we should be thankful to anyone for posting (even unconstructive or uncivil posts) in a thread simply because of past contributions or experiences to the hobby.
4) Ad homimens by all parties are unnecessary and uncivil. Yes, Nautilis posted some personally deragatory remarks which I certainly don't condone. Andy, you were also personally insulting to Nautilis by assuming he has comparatively little knowledge (another unnecessary ad hominem IMHO).
5) I admittedly have been derelict with monitoring this thread. If I had been paying attention, the course of this thread would've likely been very different. For this, I apologize.
6) All that said: a few tweaks (omissions and addition) in just about everyone's recent posts would've staved off the aggrevation.

So I heard :) It's good to hear.

I suspect this problem started in the same way most do: simple misunderstanding where the writer and reader both played their roles.

Im glad everyone is behaving amiable now. I apologize for contributing to the destruction of this thread. I meant to use the B word in an "affectionate" way.

I would prefer the wider 120 gal to make aquascaping easier but if u have the room for the 6 ft tank than im sure it will still be quite the site when all is thriving.

dnorton1978:

I have bought the AGA 125 before and it is a good tank. Its true, that it is not as deep as some tanks (only 18"), but I have not found that to be an issue. The longer tank will actually be very good for tangs.

As for the equipment, rio's have a very bad reputation, you probably want a different pump(s).

Due to the low canopy, I would go with HO T-5s, (I currently run 150 DE HQI's on the 125 I have, the monitporia and hydnophora are near the top and are quite happy). Canopies are also fairly easy to make and would be a good project to learn wood working.

I am probably going to buy the tank this coming week. Unless I can come across some really crazy deal.

I will research this question on my own, but if anyone wants to offer i will read.
Some people say use t5 in the canopy others say vho. I am thinking of keeping the canopy it comes with and go with vho lighting of about 770 watts. From what I understand as long as I dont use Halides the canopy will work.

As for pumps, it seems that the mags(??) are the way to go. What size return pump should i use for the 125.

I chose the 125 over the 120 due to the fact the 125 is longer and would provide better swimming room for my fish. Right now my tank is 12 inches wide, so 18 will seem like a mile.

Thank you all for the wonderful help and if any one has noticed I did remove the all caps in the subject. :D
