Sorry to carry on about this non-reef topic. Just pretend I am confirming the identity of something IN my tank (e.g. "It IS a nem
atode and not a piece of human hair!")
More Chartreux confirmation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chartreux
In comparing the kitten to that wikipedia entry, he has a lot of Chartreux features:
YES: blue (grey) fur coats and gold- or copper-colored eyes
YES: "Chartreux cats tend to be quiet, rarely making noises such as mewing or crying and some are mute." When he does mew it is very quiet, almost mute.
YES: "some can be taught to fetch small objects in the same manner as a dog" (he keeps fetching the small toy mouse and bringing it back for me to toss again like a dog would)
YES: "Chartreux are good with children and other animals, are non-aggressive and affectionate. Chartreux tend to bond with one person in their household, preferring to be in their general vicinity, though are still loving and affectionate to the other members of the household"
I have never seen a cat walk on me and try really hard NOT to use its claws to get a grip like this kitten does. While sitting on the couch he will step on my shoulder and then slide down into my lap since he is trying not to hurt me with his claws. And he can't stop getting cosy with me when I use this computer.
YES: "good travelers" he travelled 2 hours round trip without a sound or incident to the vet and back
YES: "They are quite observant and intelligent" (I keep calling this fella a learning machine (a la Terminator))
YES: very fast reflexes
NOT REALLY (but we'll see): "double-thickness fur"
NOT YET: Large and muscular with short fine boned limbs, big paws
(but he is still a kitten)
NOT SURE YET: "also known for their "smile"; due to the structure of their heads and long, tapered muzzle, they often appear to be smiling" Looks more on edge than anything
He has a white patch under his neck and between his front legs, so this is probably from the other cat. He looks like the brother of the cat pictured in my previous post.
Looks like we got a great cat from behind a dumpster.
