Thursday last week, I noticed my male seahorse was swimming funny. It turned into an eventual buoyancy problem and I knew right then that he has gas in his pouch. I was able to burp him Friday (I saw lots of bubbles come out) and I then did it again yesterday because he started floating strangely again. He seemed fine until tonight. Once again, looks like he's got more bubbles again. From what I've seen, the pouch evacuation does a big number on him. He usually sinks to the bottom right after and rests on plants for a couple of hours. He refuses food for a few hours but eventually gets back into it. It's very hard to try and get all the bubbles out because he doesn't stay still while I do it (no matter how I position him (I try head between index and middle finger and tail around pinky)). I understand that I have to keep him still once and for all and get all those bubbles out. Does anyone have tips? I got info on pouch evacuations from seahorse.org (thanks greenighs) and am following their procedures which seem to be working for the most part.
