...There was last time I was paying much attention to reef-related discussion forums. It got pretty nasty at one point. Has the air cleared?

If you want to take a nostalgic look back at the debate, I hear it's been dramatised in a new movie (300).

Not so much debate anymore. Most seem to realize that both have their pros and cons - though I still am confused by the 'sand makes your tank look natural' idea. :D

Thems fightin' words!!! :D

Yeah I think the debate has subsided as most of the grumpy folks have been banned from most of the message boards out there and most of the "experts" have moved onto places no one really visits.

All I know is that those who don't have a sandbed usually hate those that do and vice versa.

I don't hate anybody. Even if you do have a sandbed.

I'm of the opinion whatever works for you. Just know the benifits and limitations of the system you choose to use.

You'll have to do some siphoning of that bare bottom tank, but I'd never go back to the filthy sand trap.

I just realized that I am about to buy 50 pounds and 10 pounds of sand to make a 5-8 inchsand bed for a burrowing octopus. I dislike sand beds, and now I am installing an urber bed!

With enough flow, all your sand ends up on one end of the tank, or suspended in the water column. :P

I grew to hate my DSB. :x
