550 w of MH VHO!!!!

I installed my 150w of actinic VHO today on my hood. It looks great in addition to the 14k hamilton. I now have 550w of light over a 24x24x24 cube!!!!

If anyone ever wonders... you can DEFINITLY tell a difference with another 150w of VHO actinics .. even with the 14k 400w MH on. Its a lot bluer than im use to, but i seriously think i can get use to it! looks nice. Everything really pops.

i think i know the hamilton pendant you are referring to.
did you buy a kit and added it inside the pendant?

no. the pendant hangs as it should. around the pendant is a 3 sided hood that sits on top of the tank. the back and top is open. on the front and back sides of the hood.. inside the hood... I setup the VHO lamps. The pendant hangs in the middle, and the lamps are on the front and rear. The pendant is a Hamilton ReefStar System.

I have 330W VHO aside 500W 14k MH and CANT tell the difference. I will definately be getting new actinics this weekend. Its time anyway.

the setup im running is Hamilton 14K 400w HQI halides.. PFO 2x75w URI super actinics. I'm not sure if it matters, but the ballast is powerful enough to run 2X48" bulbs, so they may be a bit more overdriven than normal at only 24"

ive seen 20k MH. I've owned PC Actinics, and I have to say I really do like the color much better than anything else. Just my biased personal opinion.
