I don not have a refugium, but wil on my next tank. I have phosphates and nitrated right now, and still havent found the source. My question... Does anyone see a problem with throwing some of th Chaetomorphia in the overflow. This way i know it will get light and it will also have water passing through it. I cant put it in my sump because I have no lights down there. This is basically just an idea.

go to walmart/bed bath and beyond and buy a clear shower soap holder with holes in the side.

Drill a few more holes, Put some sand and chaeto in it, and call it a day. soap dish is 4-6 dollars and has suction cups on it. Point one of your powerheads aat it (keep it 4" away).

That's a great idea!

I have a small hang on the back refugium with chaeto in it but it requires constant pruning so I can't grow any great volume in it.

I bought a small plastic utility basket from wall mart that has slots on all for sides and water flows through it nicely. The basket sinks right up to the top edge of the basket. I just float it in my sump and put a light over it. My chaeto grows great in it as well.

so that has worked for you?

Not for me, my tank doesn't even have any water in it yet. Thats someone else's idea from another site. Alot of people there have really good luck with it. After a few months of the Chaeto they are able to keep a dragonet also...
